Taking Care Of Your Braces
Damaged braces or appliances can increase the length of your treatment process, so be sure to take care of all your appliances. Avoid the foods listed under “foods to avoid” and habits such chewing fingernails or your pen or pencil. Frequent bending of the wires can permanently distort and eventually break them.
Also remember, your teeth and jaw can only move into their correct positions if you consistently wear the rubber bands, headgear, retainer, or other appliances prescribed by your orthodontist.

How to get an A on brushing
1 – Brush. Most people do fine except for 2 areas
Behind the arch wires
The area between the gum line and the braces
2 – Floss. You will need to floss every day, NOT just the day before your appointment. (This removes the bacteria which cause puffy gums and cavities.)
Use the threader and make sure the floss goes on the side of each tooth and not right in the middle.
